Last week we started looking at the number of tweets worldwide that mention different brands and ‘world cup’.
We saw that tweets mentioning Coke had increased 61% on the week prior. This week Coke mentions have dived 74%.
We also saw that overall tweets had halved, but posited that tweets would stablise from hereon. If we exclude Adidas comments, which have almost doubled on the week before, overall number of comments in the top ten is roughly the same.
The Adidas ads are one reason explaining the improvement in the brand’s comments. According to the Daily Telegraph, Adidas is estimated to have spent more than £50m on advertising for the tournament, and this has already helped to deliver record breaking sales.
